Steelers get a little redemption!

November 13th, 2011
by admin

After suffering a tough loss last Sunday, the Steelers came out swinging. With two excellent drives to start the game and some timely defense they leaped over the Bengals in the AFC North standings and quieted some of their critics.

The Steelers rocketed out to a 14 point lead behind two excellent drives. The first being a well balanced eight play, 54 yard drive, culminating in a Jericho Cotchery TD. The Second was a nine play, 78 yard drive finished off by Rashard Mendenhall.

The Steelers appeared to be in control until “The Red Rocket or “Red Rifle” or whatever “Ginger” QB Andy Dalton is called, whipped a great pass into the end zone to exciting rookie AJ Green. He deserves credit because they beat solid coverage to pull the Bengals within 7.

The Steelers then made a huge error and let the Bengals climb right back in, when usually sure handed Heath Miller bobbled and easy catch that was picked off by Leon Hall. The Bengals mustered a nice drive but were stalled and settled for a Mike Nugent field goal.

The Steelers rallied late in the first half and Big Ben played another great series moving the ball and converting on several big 3rd down situations. He hit Jericho Cotchery for what look like a huge TD, but it was called back on a nonsense penalty on Heath Miller. The Steelers settled for three off Suisham’s toe and a seven point lead at the half.

Give credit to Antonio Brown who had a terrific day and just gets better every week. He banged out 5 catches for 86 yards to lead the team. He made several huge catches that kept drives alive.

These are not the Bungles anymore and they tied the game on their opening drive of the second half. It looked like it possibly could be a repeat of last week as Dalton moved the ball well and the Steelers struggled again to get off the field on third down…but then the Steelers had enough.

The Steelers offense and defense showed up again. Ben put together a great no huddle drive that ate up most of the 3rd quarter, and Rashard Mendenhall, who had flashes, busted a tough, tackle breaking, nine yard touchdown run for the decisive score.

It was time for the defense to answer the bell and they did…twice. Forcing two turnovers the first an interception by Lawrence Timmons and then one by Willie Gay that basically decided the game! It was a hard played well deserved win for the Steelers.

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: William Gay; After what had to be a hard week of getting killed by the fans, Gay came out and played a great game and stopped the driving Bengals in their tracks with excellent coverage. Everyone gets knocked down, not everyone gets up. Also Considered: Antonio Brown, who made several huge catches, Jericho Cotchery, who should have had two TD catches. He is making the most of his opportunity.

Where I watched the game: Back at KGB’s where we had a quiet afternoon. The beer of choice, had to be IC Light. Pittsburgh Brewing may be on hard times, but IC is the life blood of the ‘Burgh. The Captain was drinking IC and so was I. He was grillin’ up steaks and spending time with his family.

My thoughts on Next Week: BYE WEEK. Only disappointment is I will miss the Rochester Steelers crew as I travel next week!

God Bless the brave men and women of the US military!

Steelers drop a heartbreaker!

November 7th, 2011
by admin

The Steelers dropped a tough one to the Ravens after rallying from ten points down! Despite blowing a ten point lead, the Raven’s came back for a 13 play 92 yard drive for the winning score. This marks the second time this season they have beaten the Black and Gold, putting a stranglehold on the Steelers division hopes!

After writing about the effectiveness of the secondary all week, they promptly laid an egg in this one. The Ravens converted 14-21 3rd downs. That mostly fell on the secondary, which were constantly beaten. The decisive blow of the night was Torrey Smith’s game winner.

What was disappointing was that the loss spoiled some great story lines; the first being our beloved Silverback, James Harrison, returned with a vengeance after missing four games with a broken orbital bone. He sacked Flacco three times, the final one forcing a fumble that set the Steelers up with their go-ahead touchdown drive.

Max Starks also authored a great story as he basically “stoned” Terrell Suggs who recorded only one tackle. Suggs wouldn’t have been in the story at all it not for an ill advised pass by Big Ben. Starks really has done a great job since his “eating imposed” exile was ended.

The other highlight of the night was Ben Roethlisberger’s two fourth-quarter touchdown drives that brought his team back from a 16-6 deficit. He continues to get better and better.

Roethlisberger completed 20 of 37 passes for 330 yards, becoming the first quarterback in franchise history to pass for 300 yards in three consecutive games. He did throw the Suggs interception, on a perfectly setup screen on the first series of the third quarter at Baltimore’s 14. Other than that though, he was flawless.

Lastly, Larry Foote played a heck of a game and was all over the place! He is quietly becoming the unsung hero of this season.

The downside was that Ike Taylor played his worst game of the year, as did Willie Gay. Adding to that Ryan Clark, was penalized and out of position several times.

Look for Ray Lewis to get a “Dear Roger” letter as he creamed Hines Ward with a helmet to helmet hit without a penalty. In Ward’s absence, Antonio Brown had over 100 yards and Mike Wallace scored a huge touchdown.

After having some time to reflect on this, my honest opinion is that the Steelers are poised to make a good run. Losing was hugely disappointing, and believe me, the people I watched with will verify that, but that being said, so many things went right last night.

Week one the Ravens destroyed the Steelers, last night the Steelers lost. Don’t forget… there was no LaMarr and no Hines Ward. The Ravens are a terrific team, I just hope we get one more crack at these guys!

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: SILVERBACK! is back! He dialed it up a notch and I can’t wait till he is paired up with LaMarr again. If you didn’t see this coming, you don’t read this blog often. Honorable Mentions: Max Starks for smacking around the preening Terrell Suggs, Larry Foote, for demonstrating the value of experience, Big Ben, for doing something no other Steeler has done!

Where I watched the game: APPLEBEES, with an awesome crew of people! Big Jim and his son, “Almost as Big” Jim were there. I missed seeing these guys and they have a corner of the place reserved for only Steeler fans! I watched with two of my best friends and teammates, my awesome GF KGB and her son E-ROC, also a football teammate. We ate basically the left side of the menu. The Beer of choice was the Greenport local from Long Island. Captain Tailgate was in attendance but very quiet.

My thoughts on Next Week: No rest for the Steelers! Champions get off the deck! Look for the Bengals who are really playing well to run into a Steeler buzz saw!

The Mid-Season Report

November 3rd, 2011
by admin

What has gone right?

After an awful beginning the Steelers quietly crept back to 6-2! They seem to be getting better every week, highlighted by a long overdue thrashing of the Patriots.

The secondary, once considered the Achilles heel of the defense, is now a great strength. The Cornerbacks and Nickelbacks have been playing well; Keenan Lewis, has developed into a fine player, William Gay has had flashes of brilliance, Ike Taylor just gets it done and takes on the tough matchups, Ryan Clark is steady and a thumper and Troy Polamalu is, well, Troy Polamalu.

I have said it before and will say it again, the Linebackers are the best in football and I will have that argument with anyone who cares to take me on. This year they are showing depth, as well as talent. Despite losing James Farrior, Silverback and LaMarr Woodley, they are playing at a high level. Lawrence Timmons is a monster and LaMarr Woodley, after a slow start, has been a force! Larry Foote has been playing steady and doing a good job. Stevenson Sylvester has been terrific and looks like the next big thing! Look for a second half rebound from Silverback!

The brightest spot of the first half is the receiving corps. Antonio Brown, Manny Sanders and Mike Wallace are developing into a fantastic asset. They are all fast and all make great catches. Wallace is just lightning in a bottle and stretches out any defense. He is also becoming a complete receiver. When you take those guys coupled with Hines Ward, who is one of the greatest Steelers to ever put on a uniform, and Heath Miller, the best all around tight end in football, you have a confluence of greatness. This is something we will be talking about for years to come so enjoy it while it lasts!

The coaching has been outstanding. Mike Tomlin is a great coach! You have to trust in the Rooney’s when they pick a coach.  Coach Tomlin is one cool customer! It would have been easy to rest on his laurels but Tomlin worked hard and never lost the ship in tough waters.  Think about the injuries the Steelers have endured, and to be 6-2 is just unheard of.

Dick LeBeau, who drew some early fire, once again proved his worth and what he is all about. The defense is again playing at a high level despite losing some of its best players. Bruce Arians also deserves credit. His offensive game plan last week earns him serious kudos. He has the horses to run his offense and they are executing it well. I would like to see some more actual running, especially with an H-Back but 6-2 is 6-2! Sean Kugler is the best juggler and is working with mediocre talent and keeping the Steelers afloat. Special teams have been solid under Al Everest.

What has gone wrong?

INJURIES, INJURIES, INJURIES and more injuries have been the biggest problem. EVERY offensive lineman has been hurt. The Steelers have started the same O-Line only twice in a row. The defensive line has lost Aaron Smith, Brett Keisel, Chris Hoke and Casey Hampton at one point or another. Linebacker has been another issue. Silverback has been out, so has his backup, Jason Worilds. Couple that with James Farrior, and then losing Woodley just as he got hot and you have a recipe for disaster. The Steelers have filled all spots pretty well but something has to give.

Getting gashed by the Texans and Ravens was pretty brutal.

Reasons for Concern: The offensive line is still a serious question mark, though it is getting better. I don’t believe the Steelers can survive any further injuries, so keep your fingers crossed!

Offensive Game Beer: Has to be Big Ben Roethlisberger. While he still makes mistakes, he is continuing to be an elite QB. Honorable Mentions; Mike Wallace, the fastest threat in the game, Max Starks, for coming off the couch and proving the critics wrong!

Defensive Game Beer: Ike Taylor! He draws the best receiver and always holds his own! He has played an outstanding brand of BWG football and has made everyone around him better! Honorable Mention goes to Lawrence Timmons and LaMarr Woodley.

Disappointment of the first half: Rashard Mendenhall and his disappearing stats. He has had one great game and mostly mediocre ones. The offensive line has been horrible and that has contributed to Mendenhall’s mediocrity.

Most Improved: Keenan Lewis, who is the heir apparent, to a starting job! Antonio Brown is a legitimate special team’s threat as well as a great slot receiver.

GRADES:

QB: B+, if you take away the first week Ben has been outstanding.

RB: C, they haven’t gotten on track but are playing okay.

WR: A+ Not sure how you can do better than this group. They have everything you could want!

TE: A-, Awesome work by Heath Miller who is the best in the game, Wesley Saunders is developing nicely and Dave Johnson is a great H-Back!

OL: D+, Awful start to the year, they are starting to get better and healthier.

DL: B+, Have played mostly a solid season, despite several key injuries.

LB: B+, Need to get healthy and they will be unstoppable.

DBs: A, The numbers speak for themselves. They have been nearly flawless.

What does part two look like: Without any more serious injuries, this team should finish no worse than 11-5 and I am predicting 12-4.

BEER WE GO STEELERS! BEER WE GO!

Steelers beat the Brady Bunch!

October 31st, 2011
by admin

It’s the moment we have all been waiting for, the Steelers beat Tom Brady and the Patriots! It was only the second loss for New England at Heinz Field and the first time in seven years. It was a masterful performance by Ben Roethlisberger, who stole Tom Brady’s script for success. He completed 36 for 50, racking up 365 yards against the Patriots.

The Steelers had their foot on the gas all day long. They whacked the Patriots in yards, 427-213, in first downs, 29-19, and in third-down conversions 10-3! They dominated the time of possession almost two to one! The receivers are getting better every week; NINE receivers caught passes, with Heath Miller leading the way with 85 yards and several HUGE catches. Antonio Brown caught NINE passes, doing his Hines Ward impersonation!

Lost in the glow of Ben’s performance was the awesome work of the defense. After hearing and reading all week about being dominated by the Patriots, the defense kept Brady in check all day long and his final numbers were very un-Brady like. The defense, despite missing Silverback, James Farrior and losing LaMarr Woodley, played a great game, keeping Brady off balance all day long.

The Patriots, who have been moving the ball at will against opponents, never mustered a run longer than nine yards. They were held in check on the running game, gaining only 43 yards.  The defense was so stifling the Pats only managed 50 offensive plays. Stevenson Sylvester is shaping up to be the next great Steeler linebacker and made some very aggressive plays. Brett Kiesel made the game clinching play when he knocked the ball loose from Brady, which was almost gobbled up by Ziggy Hood, who left a 12 inch divot in the back of the end zone.

The pass defense can finally be taken seriously. The league’s No. 1 pass defense held AFC passing leader, Tom Brady, to 8 of 13 in the first half and 198 yards total, his lowest of the season by 91 yards. That number would have been much worse if LaMarr stayed in the game; he was on a ferocious tear. CB Ike Taylor had another big game, he held NFL receiving leader Wes Welker to six catches for 39 yards. Just when you thought Troy Polamalu was going to have a quiet day, he sealed the victory by crashing into Brady’s fumble and knocking it through the end zone.

I hate Boston and this was just long overdue! BTW, I think I spotted the ghost of Ochocinco!

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: I tried to be creative on this and not give it to the best stats or the obvious choice but in this case it was a no doubter; BIG BEN wins again. He is easily an elite QB and he proved it again Sunday. His numbers were awesome and he played like the gun fighter he is!

Where I watched the game: Started at my golf club on Long Island, Great Rock, drinking Celtic Ale made by Long Ireland Brewing and eating Crab Cake Sandwiches. KGB and I went back to her place to finish it out!

My thoughts on Next Week: No rest for the Steelers! This week it is the Rat-Birds and the Steelers need redemption. Look for the usual Steeler-Raven death match with the Steelers winning on a late field goal! Seriously, we need to whip some Raven ass!

Aaron Smith placed on IR, career probably over!

October 25th, 2011
by admin

Aaron Smith was placed on IR most likely ending his 12 year, illustrious career. He was a true Steeler and a great gentleman of the game. He never sought publicity and quietly anchored down the Steelers defensive line! One of the best 3-4 Defensive ends of all time, he will be sorely missed both on and off the field.

There is a saying in the NFL; “next man up”! It is hard to say that about a guy like Aaron Smith so easily. He just exemplifies what people and players should be. The Steelers are in great hands with Ziggy Hood and “Steelhead” Heyward, but it is hard not to feel a loss on this one!

Below is a link to show what kind of character this guys has:

Steelers fly past Cardinals!

October 24th, 2011
by admin

It was the kind of day that you know this offense can have and when they don’t, you’re frustrated. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, hitting eight different receivers.  The passing game was clicking on all cylinders as the Steelers bombed the Cardinals in the desert. The Steelers, after a dreadful start, are now 5-2 and headed into a treacherous two week period in their schedule.

This game belonged to the receivers, with Mike Wallace stealing the show. He hooked up with Ben Roethlisberger for 95 yards on the longest play in Steeler history. The previous longest pass play was 90 yards, first set by Terry Bradshaw to Mark Malone (That isn’t a typo) against Seattle in 1981, and then matched by both Bubby Brister to Dwight Stone against Denver in 1990 and Kordell Stewart to Bobby Shaw against Baltimore in 2001. The good news for the Cardinals, they did a pretty good job covering Wallace as he only caught three passes all day…the bad news the three passes covered 118 Yards.

Wallace wasn’t even the best performer of the day, Antonio Brown was, and he pulled in seven passes for over 100 yards and made several key catches. Rounding out the performance was Heath Miller, Hines Ward and Manny Sanders catching 12 balls for well over 100 yards and two touchdowns! The aerial attack is just so well crafted and balanced; it looks to be the best strength of the team.

The running game had a disappointing, albeit, competent performance. Although Rashard Mendenhall struggled, but pounded the ball, he never really got on track. Mewelde Moore and Ike Redman put up good numbers in the times they spelled Mendenhall. In total they grinded, and I mean grinded, out 91 yards against a very game Cardinal defense. Also adding to the malaise… it is week seven and that was the seventh combination of offensive line the Steelers have put out there. Chris Keomatu didn’t look ready and played poorly, including a moronic penalty.

The Steelers defense had a very good day. Ryan Clark’s interception started the day off right and setup the offense! Larry Fitzgerald’s new nickname is going to be “law school”. EVERY time he doesn’t catch a ball he lobbies for a flag and it actually worked on Sunday. (Captain Tailgate thinks he is related to Larry so I am going to catch flack on this.) Ike Taylor had an excellent performance against him after a sloppy first half. He played hard physical football and kept Fitzgerald in check all day.

Kevin Kolb is a mope, plain and simple, and he played liked it. The Steelers hammered him all day. Lamar Woodley had another breakout game and after his slow start, he was an absolute monster. The highlight was the safety he recorded on Kolb’s intentional grounding. Except for one busted play to Larod Stephens-Howling the defense played a very strong and disciplined game. Steve McClendon had the task of filling the HUGE shoes, both literally and figuratively, of Casey Hampton and Chris Hoke but he was up to the challenge and the defensive line had its best day of the year. McClendon was second in tackles on the team and the Arizona running game was bottled up for under 80 yards.

The only downside of the day was that the referees were WAY too involved. For the record, it easily broke the Steelers way but they were so flag happy that the last 8 minutes of the first half took almost 45 minutes of actual time. It is frustrating to watch.  The Fitzgerald lobbying was so obnoxious I almost fired my beer bottle through the TV.

That being said, it was a very good game for the Steelers!

Beer We Go Steelers, Beer We Go!

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: I am giving it to, Steve McClendon, who exemplified what “Next Man Up” means. He was athletic and did a great job. To be fair, I feel the WR vote was split between Wallace and Brown so I went McClendon. Both deserved consideration as did Ben with a huge game!

Where I watched the game: With my GF KGB and my amazing kids! It was a great spread, which included Rice Balls, Kielbasa, Meat Balls, Sausage and Peppers, Fresh Mozzarella and pumpkin pie. The Beer was Miller Lite (Old Reliable) in extreme moderation with the kids, which my one son actually grabbed for me! It brought a tear to my eye. I traded Texts with the Captain and we both got a kick out of the Steelers playing a “home game” in Arizona! My daughter, for good luck, also carved a Steelers pumpkin! (PICTURE TO FOLLOW)

My thoughts on Next Week: The very definition of a shootout! I hate all things New England, so this is a grudge match for me. The Patriots always seem to have the Steelers number. Let’s hope this week is the difference. Look for an aerial fireworks display!

Injury News: Legursky out for several weeks / Troy is back!

October 19th, 2011
by admin

The Pittsburgh Tribune is reporting that Doug Legursky is out several weeks with a dislocated toe on his left foot. Legursky moved to the left side and has started the last two weeks in place of Chris Kemoeatu. He has had an up and down season, getting killed the first week but playing very steady the last two weeks.

Chris Kemoeatu and Marcus Gilbert are expected to play this week.

In better news, Troy Polamalu passed his concussion test and is expected to play this week against the Cardinals.

Make it two in a row!

October 17th, 2011
by admin

Sunday afternoon the Steelers played the tail of two halves, after thoroughly dominating the Jacksonville Jaguars for 30 minutes, the Steelers had to step it up and hold off a resurgent Jaguar team for the next 30. The boys in Black and Gold narrowly escaped a stunning turn of events Sunday, after clamping down on defense and surviving a Hail Mary toss at the end of the game.

Nothing illustrated the highs and lows as much as Ben Roethlisberger’s day. After an outstanding first half which saw him open up with three excellent drives which accounted for all of the days points, he missed badly on the third drive on two “should-be” touchdown passes. That would be an ominous sign. After the first three drives the Steelers managed just five first downs the rest of the day, with Ben missing wide open receivers. With an effective Ben, this game would have been a huge blowout.

The offensive line had to go under renovation yet again. Doug Legursky, after having a good start, was injured. He dislocated his toe and was replaced by Trai Essex. The Offensive line had a good day though as they helped Rashard Mendenhall rip off a 146 yards. Mendenhall, had to be getting nervous at the performance of Jon Dwyer and Ike Redman. He had his best day of the year. He blasted the Jags with a 68 yard run and did a great job protecting the football. He reaffirmed his place in the Steelers starting lineup.

The Defense, despite what you will read other places, also had a solid, albeit unspectacular, day. LaMarr Woodley’s resurgence continued as he was just massive up front. He had two crunching sacks and was a force all day. James Farrior also had a great day and looked terrific; he led the team in tackles and had a very important sack, forcing the Jags to punt. Rounding out the D’s performance was Brett Keisel who played like a beast and Troy Polamalu who knocked himself out killing Maurice Jones Drew. What is most important about the defense is while they sometimes bent, they didn’t break. If it wasn’t for an ill timed running into the punter penalty, the defense would have had a near flawless day.

As for the offense, it was a pretty awful second half. The Steelers had several opportunities to put the game away and just didn’t execute. Between Ben missing wide open receivers and the Jags finally cracking down on the run, it made for a rough go. The receiving core did have a good day in spite of a terrible second half. They racked up 12 catches for 200 yards, including a 48 yard bomb to Mike Wallace and a 38 yard strike to Manny Sanders.

At the end of the day, despite everyone’s criticism, style points don’t matter. A win is a win and the Steelers are now 4-2 and have a very clear path to the playoffs if they stay on track.

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: I am giving it to, Rashard Mendenhall, who had a terrific day running the football. For several plays the Steelers went back to ground and pound and were effective. After speculation about his future with the club Mendenhall prevailed. Also considered were James Farrior and Troy Polamalu.

Where I watched the game: Nursing flag football injuries at my girlfriend KGB’s. Had an avalanche of Advil and drank Miller Lite (Old Reliable) along with McSorley’s dark ale. The Captain and I texted during the game and he spent the last half of his day defending Ben, which pissed us both off. Seriously, last week he throws five td’s this week people are trying to run him out of town.

My thoughts on Next Week: The Steelers travel west and play old friend’s Ken Wisenhunt and Russ Grimm. Look for this to be a tough game with the Steelers surviving to pull it out. I expect Ben to have a huge day!

FINALLY!

October 10th, 2011
by admin

At 9:35 of the first quarter Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers finally appeared. For the better part of four weeks the Steelers were AWOL. Then it happened, two consecutive plays reminded all the fans of BWG nation what we were missing. Lamar Woodley blew up the Titans pass protection and recorded a very important sack, that left Matt Hasselbeck looking through his ear hole. Then Troy Polamalu blew up a well set up screen, showing that he still is a dominant player and all was right in Steeler Nation.

After getting pushed around the week before in Houston, Chris Johnson was effectively shut down after a good opening drive. Despite missing, two thirds of the defensive line and Silverback, the defense stepped it up big time. Lamar Woodley lead the way. In the first half, he surpassed four weeks of futility with his breakout game. Also making a cameo appearance was James Farrior who had his best game this season as well. Farrior, who has been getting killed by the media, banged in 13 tackles and made several key stops. Adding to the effort was the defenseive line play of Steelhead Heyward, who recorded his first career sack. It was the statement game that Coach Tomlin has been waiting for.

After the defense shored up its leaky performance, Big Ben proved why he is considered one of the best quarterback’s in the NFL. He led a 10 play, 39 yard drive that resulted in a Steeler Touchdown. Considering the severity of his foot injury it was a heck of a day! When the smoke cleared and all was said and done, he threw for 228 yards and FIVE touchdowns. Not bad for a guy who was playing on one foot, behind a severely patched offensive line. The more Ben is banged up, the better he plays.

The offensive line had its best day of the season. Max Starks, who last week was watching the Steelers game on his couch, was out on the field after only three practices. He was just what the doctor ordered. He was up to the challenge against a solid Titan pass rush and did a great job protecting his friend Ben. Doug Legursky had his best game since becoming a starter. His athleticism was apparent as he threw the key block on Jonathon Dwyer’s huge run.

Jonathon Dwyer played a great game, spelling Ike Redman and he will get a long look for playing time. He racked up an astounding 107 yards on 11 carries. Redman put together a workmanlike effort for 49 yards. The receivers continued their hot season! Eight players caught passes with Hine Ward leading the way with 7.

The best pass of the day was not thrown by Ben or caught by one of the receivers, it was a trick play as Ryan Mundy caught a 33 yard pass from punter Dan Sepulveda. It was a gutsy call and it helped put the Titans on their heels for the rest of the day.

It was a great all around game for the Black and Gold.

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: I am giving out two. First has to go to Big Ben. He threw 5 TD’s on one good foot. That is the stuff of legend. I honestly can say, that if I could have any Quarterback I would want Ben. No kidding, others may be better, NONE are tougher. My second game Beer goes to Max Starks. Max came off the couch literally to solidify the offensive line. He had a great game and protected Ben’s blind side. Also considered: Jon Dwyer for his 100 plus performance and Ryan Mundy for his 33 yard catch.

Where I watched the game: With my two best friends and teammates at KGB’s house. It was a ridiculous spread that included wings, pizza, chinese dumplings and meatballs. KGB made cinnamon buns for dessert. We drank Miller Lite (Old Reliable) and Sam Adams Octoberfest. The Captain was at the game and before he walked in texted me,”…it’s gonna be a good day bro”… as usual, he was on the money!

My thoughts on Next Week: The Steelers should win this one pretty handily. The Jags blew a lead against Cincy and are on the ropes. Look for the Steelers to open it up early on the Jags, taking MJ Drew out of the game.
