Steelers drop fourth in a row!

Despite a terrific effort by Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers dropped their fourth game in a row. The defense got sliced by Ezekiel Elliott for two touchdown runs including the game winner with nine seconds remaining. QB Dak Prescott, put together a solid effort and once again 1/2 the Steelers Team was absent from the loss.

Coming off one of their best performances, the defense really struggled, Artie Burns was swimming out of his depth getting torched on press coverage for a 50-yard TD to Dez Bryant on third-and-11. The Steelers were again crushed on another screen pass turned into a long TD, this one for 83 yards by Elliott. Ryan Shazier, who had a very good game, wasn’t fast enough to catch him. Mike Mitchell, who is losing his battle with father of time, was out of position on several plays and Robert Golden continues to struggle. The Steelers were torched for 300+yards passing and 127 Yards plus on the ground…again!

The offense looks back on track. Big Ben looked like he had brought them back to victory with a 75-yard, 73-second drive in which he used a fake-spike TD pass to Antonio Brown. Roethlisberger threw for 239 of 408 yards with one TD in the second half and rallied his team. Le’Veon Bell, proved his mettle, he had 27 touches for 137 yards and took a pounding from the Cowboys defense.

Eli Rogers emergence continues as he made a nice catch off the grass for a 3-yard touchdown, and Jesse James made a big catch-and-run of 24 yards to set up Brown’s TD. Ladarius Green chipped in with three catches and he was mugged on a two-point conversion. Antonio Brown had a monster game finishing with 14 catches and 154 yards, with four catches for 73 yards in the final two minutes, although he inexplicably ran out of bounds on the last play of the game.

The Coaches need to really own this defeat, too many big plays, too many mistakes, including a killer facemask penalty on Sean Davis that basically cost the Steelers the game.   During their four-game losing streak, they have allowed four TDs of 50 yards or more. It is easy to criticize Tomlin for the two-point conversion issues, but that is a huge weapon, that the Steelers employ extremely well. The issue with the team is the lack of discipline and the total lack of a pass rush.

Where was James Harrison on the last series?

BEER WE GO STEELERS, BEER WE GO!

My “GAME BEER” goes to: Ben Roethlisberger, who put together a monster performance on the heels of two terrible games. Also Considered: Ryan Shazier, who played well, despite some mistakes, Antonio Brown see the same comment.

Where I watched the game: Heinz Field, thanks to my buddy Joe Collura, who hooked me and my family up with awesome tickets, we had two tailgates both of which were awesome. The Beer We Go Official Tailgate with food from “The Terrible Bra and Grille” was outstanding, we also had guest appearances by Greg Lloyd, Louis Lipps and Frenchy Fuqua(Courtesy of Steel City Mafia). KGB drank IC Mango (Not a typo), Tom Janicki and I had IC Light and the Tailgate Kids including Little Captain Tailgate had A&W Root Beer. After two + years of absence Captain Tailgate returned in full regalia.  Little Miss Tailgate will share her thoughts on the trip.

My Stat of the week: FOUR again…Four Touchdowns of 50 yards or more during the FOUR game losing streak. The Steelers looked like Super Bowl contenders, now they just look lost.

This week’s Jersey: My gamer Joe Greene 75 Home Black

Reflections of Little Miss Tailgate:

This year’s trip was full of excitement from meeting new people to even seeing famous people! We only traveled with five people rather than seven. It was me, my dad, my mom, Luc and Dante.

On Saturday, we went to the Heinz History Center with Tom Janicki and his two kids Alex and Aubrey and we all had a great time. Then we went to the Strip District and shopped at multiple Pittsburgh stores, ate at Peppi’s for lunch, and even bought delicious desserts from the Strip District’s bakeries.

We also ate at Primanti’s Bros. Market Square and it was as good as usual! One of the coolest things that I will always remember is seeing Le’Veon Bell, Todd Haley, Ross Cockrell, and other players walking into the William Penn Hotel the night before the game. It is something I will never forget.

On Sunday we went to two tailgates as opposed to our usual one. We went to the amazing Terrible Bra and Grill’s tailgate where we threw the football around, enjoyed a great root beer and met Greg Lloyd, Louis Lipps, and returning another year Frenchie Fuqua. Also Captain Tailgate made an appearance after a two-year absence. They were all so cool and everyone there was very nice!

The other tailgate we went to was with some friends of ours. Joe Collura who was the person who got us our tickets! We also met new people there and enjoyed some awesome barbeque food! Everyone there was also very nice!

Now the more unfortunate part of the trip…The game. Although the Steelers lost yet another shameful game to a very unfortunate team, the game was very fun to be at. The funny part was that when Jesse James makes a play or a First Down everyone yells the famous Heath chant.

The player of the game in my opinion was on the defensive end Ryan Shazier because he played an awesome game and really pushed the Cowboys Offense. On the offensive end I think that Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown played a very good games both scoring touchdowns.

After the game, we went back to the second tailgate where the Cowboy tailgate next to us was playing obnoxious music. We went to the Hotel and met Dusty Baker from the Washington Nationals and finished the night with a swim in the pool!

Overall, the trip was amazing we made new friends, shared lots of laughs, and made some awesome memories. I can’t wait to come back next year. Go Steelers!

One Response to “Steelers drop fourth in a row!”

  1. Captain Tailgate Says:

It was great to be back. It was equally and oppositely not great to bare witness to the end result. One thing that I must comment on is an irritating trend. This is two games in a row that our stadium has been infiltrated by opposing fans. I do not care if you are offered 10x face value for your seats, we at BWG implore you to NOT SELL OUT! Section 524 was a disgrace for both the New England and Dallas home games. It is hard to stomach losing football. It is harder to stomach losing football on your home turf. It is hardest to stomach losing football on your home turf with a loud mouth spouting insults from the other teams perspective and video taping Captain Tailgates reaction to the defensive meltdown that occured. Post it to the big board so we can start the movement currently known as Don’t Be That Guy. Don’t Sell Out!! 100% Pittsburgh Proud does not equate to “I can pay for half my season if I sell out!! True Fans have no SELL OUT Price. True Fans attend the game. Out.
